Film Review 

This is a breathtaking musical film, that combines dancing and incredible sound soundtrack, base on the story of Phineas Taylor Barnum an American showman, businessman remembered for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus in the (1871–2017) During the film, we will see the beginning of his career on the Circus businessman and how he changes the world of the entertainment industry, the film has beautiful colorful costumes and lovely adaptation from the years of  1871.

The soundtrack “The Greatest Showman,” the P.T. Barnum biopic starring Hugh Jackman, it has achieved to be No. 1 on the Billboard album chart for a second week, with the equivalent of 104,000 sales in the United States. The album had been released by Atlantic; it has received great ovation, and it was awarded by the Golden Globes, last Jan. 7, where the film won the best original song award for “This Is Me.” the same song it has also been nominated for an Oscar Awards, Music and Lyric by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The film is powerful and very motivational, leaving a beautiful and encouraging message of strength, I definitely recommend to enjoy it with a family or with friends. Moral of the Movie

Once on my favourite movies so far this year, I totally encourage you to watch this film. It has all the ingredients to motivated you to start this year 2018 with confident, powerful and full of positivism, no matter what happened or how you feel, no matter how many times you had heard the word No over this year.

This film, will show you beyond any thoughts, people can achieve the incredible an the unimaginable, because from the deepest of your heart you will find a true strength, that will give you the power to pursue your personal dream, this film is full of examples, as each character has crossed from their own barricades, but they won’t let the shame sink in, they will become real warriors from the aches, to be a sparkling diamond who will shine and bright by itself.

Synopsis

Orphaned, penniless but ambitious and with a mind crammed with imagination and fresh ideas, the American Phineas Taylor Barnum will always be remembered as the man with the gift to effortlessly blur the line between reality and fiction. Thirsty for innovation and hungry for success, the son of a tailor will manage to open a wax museum but will soon shift focus to the unique and peculiar, introducing extraordinary, never-seen-before live acts on the circus stage. Some will call Barnum’s extensive collection of oddities, a freak show; however, when the obsessed for cheers and respectability showman gambles everything on the opera singer Jenny Lind to appeal to a high-brow audience, he will somehow lose sight of the most important aspect of his life: his family. Will Barnum risk it all to be accepted?

Who was Phineas Taylor Barnum?

It was an American showman, politician and businessman remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus (1871–2017). The circus business was the source of much of his enduring fame. He established «P. T. Barnum’s Grand Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan & Hippodrome,» a travelling circus, menagerie and museum of «freaks», which adopted many names over the years. Barnum died of a stroke at his home residence in 1891 and was buried in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, which he designed himself

Jenny Lind the most beautiful voice

The Swedish soprano Jenny Lind, often known as the «Swedish Nightingale» was one of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century. At the height of her fame, she was persuaded by the showman P. T. Barnum to undertake a long tour of the United States. The tour began in September 1850 and continued to May 1852. Barnum’s advance publicity made Lind a celebrity even before she arrived in the U.S., and tickets for her first concerts were in such demand that Barnum sold them by auction. The tour provoked a popular furore dubbed «Lind Mania» by the local press and raised large sums of money for both Lind and Barnum. Lind donated her profits to her favoured charities, principally the endowment of free schools in her native Sweden.

Comentario de la película 

La película es una bellísima obra musical que ha conquistado los corazones de sus seguidores por sus nobles letras. La banda sonora de la cinta esta protagonizada por Hugh Jackman y Zac Refron, entre otros, consiguiendo el número 1 en la lista Billboard 200, con 104 mil copias vendidas, un Globo de Oro por la mejor canción y la nominación a mejor canción original en los Oscar 2018. Además de una cautivadora banda sonora, el film esta muy bien ambientado en la época Victoriana, en la década del 1870, donde se cuentan las historias y peripecias del empresario Phineas Taylor Barnum, quien fue el creador y fundador del primer circo Barnum & Bailey Circus. La película nos va narrando, las historias de diferentes personajes, que se irán integrando poco a poco gracias a sus peculiares e únicos talentos, llegando ellos a formar una familia con lazos muy fuertes, esa unión se lograra para vencer a los prejuicios de la sociedad, quienes le han marginado producto de sus diferencia físicas, algo que Barnum aprovechara para su beneficio para crear un espectáculo único en el mundo. Sin duda una magnifica opción para disfrutar en familia o con amigos.

Moraleja de la película 

Una película maravillosa, llena de energía, positivismo y fuerza. Un film especial para comenzar este año. Mostrándonos  que no importa cuantas veces a uno le digan que no!!, que además te cierren las puertas o incluso te digan que tu no vales; Negándote las posibilidades del camino correcto para tu futuro. Una película motivadora, que nos muestra como cada protagonista, tiene un destino en su vida. A través de su fuerza interior, irán descubriendo nuestros protagonistas, sus anhelos por surcar por los cielos de una forma libre y mas fuertes. Llegando a ver materializados sus sueños, demostrando que estos pueden convertirse en realidad y no debemos derrumbarnos por la pruebas de la vida, si no mas bien debemos ser valientes y levantarnos con mas fuerza, para no solo, salir adelante, si no, crear un mundo mejor, para uno mismo y para los demás.

Sinopsis

Estados Unidos, siglo XIX. P.T. Barnum (Hugh Jackman) acaba de perder su trabajo de oficinista porque la empresa para la que trabajaba se ha ido a la bancarrota. Deseoso de ofrecer a su esposa Charity (Michelle Williams) y a sus dos hijas la vida que siempre les había prometido, Barnum se embarca en un proyecto colosal: crear un gran y asombroso espectáculo circense. Para ello, este inventor del show bussines buscará artistas únicos, desde enanos, a mujeres barbudas, equilibristas y toda clase de shows imaginativos. Su lema: para hacer algo nuevo hay que hacer algo poco convencional.

El gran showman es un musical que celebra el nacimiento del show business y cuenta la historia de P.T. Barnum, un visionario showman y empresario circense que surgió de la nada para crear un espectáculo que se convirtió en una sensación mundial y que fue conocido como «El mayor espectáculo en la Tierra».

Este biopic musical sobre Phineas Taylor Barnum (1810-1891) es el debut en la dirección de Michael Gracey y su protagonista es Hugh Jackman (Pan: Viaje a Nunca Jamás, Lobezno inmortal, Prisioneros) como el showman y empresario circense. Completan el reparto Rebecca Ferguson (La chica del tren, Misión: imposible – Nación secreta), Zac Efron (Malditos vecinos 2, El chico del periódico), Michelle Williams (Mi semana con Marilyn, Shutter Island) y la actriz y cantante Zendaya.

Quien fue Phineas Taylor Barnum

Fue un empresario, político y artista circense estadounidense, recordado por el mundo del entretenimiento y por haber fundado el Barnum & Bailey Circus, En 1870, junto con William C. Coup, estableció en Delavan, Winsconsin el «P.T. Barnum’s Grand Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan & Hippodrome«, un circo ambulante, zoológico y freak show montado bajo una carpa con 5.000 asientos. Más tarde se duplicó la capacidad de visitantes de la carpa y el espectáculo comenzó a presentarse por todo el país, y posteriormente se hicieron presentaciones en Europa, transportándose de un lugar a otro por ferrocarril, con alrededor de 80 vagones de cama plana para abordar los remolques. Debido a su gran éxito, este circo fue llamado El mayor espectáculo del mundo («The Greatest Show on Earth»). La primera atracción principal de este circo fue Jumbo, un elefante africano adquirido al zoológico de Londres en 1882. Cuando Barnum falleció, en 1891, Bailey continuó liderando el circo hasta su propia muerte, ocurrida en 1906. El circo pasó entonces a las manos de los hermanos Ringling bajo el nombre de Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, y fue, hasta el 21 de mayo de 2017, fecha de su última presentación, el circo más grande del mundo.
