Finally, our most anticipated film, since the last Harry Potter saga, has arrived to our screens. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a 2016 British/American fantasy epic film with the remarkable Harry Potter´s Director David Yates, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.  The film was written by J. K. Rowling in her screenwriting debut, inspired by her book of the same name. Bringing magic to a new world of adventures in the city of New York full of a fantastic creativity and unexplored magic world.

Por fin llega, a nuestras pantallas del cine, la película más esperada, desde la última saga de Harry Potter. Bajo la dirección, del ya conocido Director de Harry Potter, David Yates, y  junto a la colaboración de la famosa escritora JK. Rowling, quien debuta como guionista de la nueva película Animales Fantasticos, en esta ocasión la magia nos transportara a las calles de Nueva York 1926, pleno un mundo desconocido e inexplorado.

Animales fantásticos y dónde encontrarlos (título original en inglés: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) es un libro de 2001 escrito por la autora británica J. K. Rowling sobre las criaturas mágicas en el universo  Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal, la primera novela de la serie Harry Potter.

En una entrevista de 2001 con la editorial Scholastic, Rowling dijo que ella eligió el tema de las criaturas mágicas porque era un asunto divertido para el cual ella ya había desarrollado mucha información en libros anteriores. El nombre de Rowling no aparece en la tapa del libro, estando el trabajo acreditado bajo el seudónimo Newt Scamander.

El libro beneficia a la caridad Comic Relief. Más del 80% del precio de cubierta de cada libro va directamente a niños pobres en varios lugares alrededor del mundo. De acuerdo con Comic Relief, las ventas de este libro y su acompañante Quidditch a través de los tiempos han recaudado más de 17 millones de libras.

Eddie Redmayne  arrived in London’s Leicester Square with his wife Hannah. The 34-year-old Oscar-winning actor sported a blue suit with a white spotted design, while his wife looked striking in a black floor-length gown emblazoned with purple and white flowers from Alexander McQueen.

Director David Yates

David Yates is an English filmmaker who has directed feature films, short films, and television productions.

He rose to mainstream prominence by directing the final four films in the Harry Potter film series: entries five, six, seven, and eight(2007–2011). His work on the series brought him major commercial success along with accolades, such as the British Academy Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing.

David Yates’ following projects include, The Legend of Tarzan (2016) and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016).

Al principio solo se habían hecho 7 copias hechas a mano de «Los Cuentos de Beedle el Bardo», 6 vendidas y uno subastado, todo el dinero fue donado a caridad, pero después Rowling decidió publicarlo para destinar el dinero recaudado de todas las copias vendidas a caridad, este proyecto lo llevó a cabo con la Baronesa de Inglaterra.

SINOPSIS

Nueva York, año 1926. El excéntrico magizoólogo Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) acaba de ser expulsado de Hogwarts debido a un incidente relacionado con una de sus criaturas mágicas. El joven mago decide entonces emprender un viaje por el mundo en busca de nuevas variedades de criaturas extraordinarias. Acompañado de una enigmática maleta repleta de los sorprendentes seres que ha coleccionado a lo largo de los años, llega a Nueva York. Allí se cruza por casualidad con Jacob Kowalski (Dan Floger), un panadero que acaba de volver de la guerra. A raíz de una confusión con sus respectivos equipajes de mano, se produce la fuga de algunos de los animales fantásticos de Newt y ambos se ven obligados a colaborar para resolver ese terrible problema, que afecta tanto a la comunidad mágica dirigida por el MACUSA (el Mágico Congreso de USA) como a los Muggle.

Newt y su nuevo amigo Jacob deberán esforzarse por resolver el incidente sin que nadie se entere. Ya que la comunidad mágica americana es mucho más estricta que la británica, y las consecuencias de revelar sus poderes en público son terribles. Pero no estarán solos en esta aventura, ya que también conocerán a Porpentina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), a su hermana Queenie (Alison Sudol), a la presidenta del Congreso Seraphina Picquery (Carmen Ejogo) y al poderoso Percival Graves (Colin Farrell). Claro que no todos serán aliados… Los dos amigos tendrán que hacer frente a la organización radical liderada por May Lou Barebone (Samantha Morton), mientras que en Europa el misterioso mago oscuro Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) está causando grandes estragos.

Rowling, autora de la saga Harry Potter, escribe el guión de esta adaptación de su libro Animales fantásticos y donde encontrarlos (2001), ambientada en la conocida comunidad de magos y brujas y narrada desde el punto de vista de Newt Scamander, autor ficticio de este libro. Synopsis

Part of the synopsis of the movie was first revealed on 6 October, 2014, when J. K. Rowling posted the cryptic message «Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won’t tolerate this nonsense.» on her official Twitter account. She confirmed the following day that this message was a riddle, and the solution, while not part of the script, was the first sentence of a synopsis of Newt Scamander’s story. The anagram was solved later that day, with Rowling confirming the solution of «Newt Scamander only meant to stay in New York for a few hours.

«Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them» opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident… were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

The plot revolves around Newt Scamander, who was made a brief stop in New York in December 1926, shortly after completing his travels around the world to research for his Magizoology book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. What was meant to be a short interlude is prolonged when a No-Maj called Jacob Kowalski inadvertently disrupts Newt’s magically–expanded suitcase, releasing a number of dangerous magical creatures into the city and threatening to worsen even further the state of magical and non-magical relations in the United States (which were already tense due to the presence of a fanatical extremist group, the New Salem Philanthropic Society, advocating for a «Second Salem» and the erradication of wizardkind).

Plot

The film opens with a dark setting where a bunch of people are gathered. Then, there is a flash of light and the back of a wizard, later revealed to be Grindelwald. Then, there is a montage of newspapers before we finally settle in New York. We see Newton Scamander on a ship as it arrives, and he gets off. He wanders around and comes to a gathering outside a bank, where Mary Lou Barebone is ranting about the wizards. Newt bumps into Jacob Kowalski, a No-Maj who is trying to get a bank loan to open a bakery. Newt then spots his Niffler, which has escaped from his trunk, trying to steal silver and gold. He goes into the bank to find the Niffler, but leaves behind an Occamy egg which Jacob tries to return but to no avail. Newt is then picked up by Porpentina Goldstein, who tries to take him in to the MACUSA, but no one listens. Graves, an employee, tries to take them in. Jacob returns to his house, where several of Newt’s beasts escape, including an Erumpent and a Murtlap.

Modesty Barebone, a girl in Mary Lou’ orphanage with her brother, Credence, sings about the bad witches. Credence turns out to be a young, scared boy afraid of his mother.

Tina takes them both to her house where they meet Queenie, Tina’s sister. Inside their room, Newt disappears into his case, and Jacob follows. They meet Newt’s other beasts. We later see them visit a town hall, where they meet Henry Shaw Senior and his son, also named Henry Shaw. Henry Senior waves them away.

Meanwhile, Jacob and Newt, on the run from the Goldsteins as well as MACUSA, find their first beast in Central Park, an Erumpent. After much difficulty, they succeed in capturing it. Henry Junior, the New York senator, is killed by an Obscurial. Tina catches Jacob and Newt and goes to Seraphina Picquery. Seraphina captures the trio, believing them to be the cause of Shaw’s death, and has them locked up. They are taken to a chamber to be killed, but escape with the help of Queenie.

Graves journeyed to the orphanage, but Credence’s powers manifest and Mary Lou is killed. Credence escapes and wreakes havoc. Newt and Tina find him and try to calm him down, but he is killed on Seraphina’s orders. Through Newt’s Revelio Charm, Graves is revealed to be none other than Gellert Grindewald himself.

Jacob and the rest of the No-Majs are Obliviated and Newt returns to England. Jacob opens a bakery with some of his products looking like the beasts he had met before. Queenie enters, and Jacob remembers the events he has been through.
